Photographer | Broadcast Producer

About

Who am I?

Video guy by education. Photo guy by trade.

I’m an Oswego, NY native who has loved everything about media production since I was introduced to it in high school. During high school, I made my home at WBUC, the high school’s TV station. I had the opportunity to do every job that was offered, even being the manager of the station as a senior!

After graduating high school in 2014, I moved down the road to SUNY Oswego, where I graduated in May 2018 with a Broadcasting & Mass Communication degree with a minor in Spanish. I got involved with WTOP, the school’s student run TV station, where I held two different management positions at the station during my time - Maintenance Engineer and Photography Director.

My biggest body of work didn’t happen in the classroom, but rather at the race track. In 2015 I picked up a DSLR camera and decided that I wanted to learn photography, and created AB Photos (formerly known as Alex Borland Race Media). I made my way out to Oswego Speedway to learn the basics throughout the 2015 season. I wound up staying at Oswego Speedway every Saturday night until the end of the 2017 season. In 2017 I was named the track photographer for Oswego.

In 2016, I expanded my coverage into the dirt racing world, and took on a bigger role with my media outlet, CNY Motorsports. I stepped in as an editor for the site and helped out with making several different changes to the site.

Over the course of the years, I have been fortunate enough to cover some of the biggest events and racing series at northeast race tracks including - Super DIRT Week, the Budweiser International Classic, Race of Champions Weekend, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, and the Super DIRTcar Series just to name a few.

In 2019, I took a job with World Racing Group as a producer for DIRTVision and relocated to Concord, NC. The job put me on the road with the World of Outlaws Late Models for two seasons before moving to the Super DIRTcar Series and has taken me across the country working live broadcasts as essentially a one man band for one of the biggest late model tours in the country.
